Derived from the Greek "friends of the poor," the Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. George Greek Orthodox Church
is a vibrant source of fellowship and philanthropic service in our community.
The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc., is the duly accredited women's philanthropic
society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The St. George Philoptochos has been a backbone of
our Church for many years. Through the efforts of this group of engaged and dedicated women, St. George
Philoptochos has supported numerous educational programs at our Church, worthy causes such as Philoxenia House
and the Hellenic Cardiac Fund, as well as engaged in charitable endeavors in the Greater Lynn community that aid
the poor, sick, elderly and underserved. |
Summer has come to an end and now we begin another year of Philanthropic work and some added fun!
Our Festival Pastry Booth was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! We sold out and made over $11,000. Thank you to all
for taking the time to help out by baking, donating baked goods and monetary donations and by helping
during the festival weekend. We appreciate all your hard work.

Caring & Sharing Program
"Litte things mean a lot"
"Happy Feet Program"
This is the second year we have held this program and the response was tremendous. The Lynn Shelter
Association and My Brother's Table were so happy to receive all the warm socks that were distributed to its visitors.
Over 350 people visit the shelters on a daily basis. Thank you for making this program such a success!
Our annual "Coat Drive" received an overwhelming response. The coats were given to the Lynn Shelter
Association that distributed them to various shelters throughout the city including Bridge House and Green Street.
This year we added boots, mittens, gloves and scarves. Because of your generosity the winter will be a litter warmer
for those less fortunate.
Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive - During the month of November we will be collecting
non-perishable food items to fill 85 baskets that will be distributed to families and elderly shut ins. Last year
we increased our number of donations by 25 food baskets. The families and elderly shut ins will receive large
packages filled with not only everything they would need for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner but also
enough extra to stock their cabinets. This cannot be accomplished without the generosity and help of all the parishioners
of St. George. Your support brings so much happiness to the less fortunate.
The Caring & Sharing Program was established to help those in need. We have established ourselves as a Church helps those in need in the Lynn
community. We want to remind everyone that we are also here to help those within our Church community. If you know of anyone who
needs assistance please contact the office and speak to Fr. George. All information is kept confidential. There are many
programs offered through Philoptochos to help anyone in need. All anyone has to do is ask.
We again want to thank you for all your love and support! St. George is truly blessed!!!
